Latches and Hinges

You can't assume things like this will go totally smoothly and work right, but hinge number one actually went on easier than expected. I've installed several hinges like this now and have come across different issues each time I've done it. If I'm not paying attention to every part of the hinge install, I end up with a misaligned door, one that won't close all the way or even not at all. It's a constant learning curve in how to do it properly first time, and if you're attempting to hinge something yourself - think it through completely first before attempting to drill or cut.


Here is my simple answer for keeping the hinged sections closed; this brass latch looks good and it does the job nice and securely. At about $8 (US) each, but they're very much worth it despite the expense. I bought these for another project and they didn't work out right then, but luckily this meant I had them available to use with AtomWood, so I made good use of them here.


Finally the project is nearing it's completion. Here we can see both hinges attached and the case itself generally ready for all the hardware to be installed. In the final image you can just make out the plexiglass motherboard tray.
